Image via Amazon On Thursday, the official Twitter account of Square Enix's G Fantasy magazine announced that Iro Aida's Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga will be put on hiatus because of Aida's sudden illness. There will be no new chapter in the August issue of the magazine, which comes out on July 18th. Instead, an older chapter will be reprinted. The manga will resume in the September issue of the magazine on August 18th.
Yen Press is releasing the manga, and it describes the story:
"Hanako-san, Hanako-san...are you there?"
At Kamome Academy, there are many stories about the school's seven mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. It is said that Hanako-san can be found in the third stall of the third floor girls' bathroom in the old building. When summoned, Hanako-san has the power to grant any wish. Nene Yashiro, who is fascinated by the occult and dreams of romance, decides to explore this haunted bathroom. However, when she meets Hanako-san there, she discovers that he is not what she expected. In fact, Kamome Academy's Hanako-san is a boy!
In 2014, Aida started the serialization of her manga series in Square Enix's G Fantasy magazine. As of June 26th, they have released their 24th compiled book volume. They plan to release their 25th volume on October 27th. Meanwhile, Yen Press published their 21st volume on January 21st.
In January 2020, the initial Japanese broadcast of the TV anime series based on the manga took place. It consisted of 12 episodes. Funimation provided streaming access to the series with both English dubbing and subtitles. Following this, the second season of the anime was launched on January 12th. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the new season as it is being broadcast in Japan, as well as providing an English dubbing option. On July 6th, the second part of the second season was released.
Aida launched ( link ) In February 2018, the After-School Hanako-kun spinoff manga was published on pixiv Comic. It ended with its 25th chapter in October 2021. Square Enix released one compiled book volume for the manga in August 2019. Yen Press published the volume in English in April 2021. An anime adaptation of the spinoff manga premiered in October 2023 on Crunchyroll.
