On Sunday, Shueisha declared that their MANGA Plus platform now includes all English translations of Yōichi Takahashi 's Captain Tsubasa manga series. For one week, users can access all chapters at no cost. From April 13th at Japan time (April 12th at 11:00 a.m. EDT), this series will no longer be free but will be accessible through the Deluxe Subscription plan of MANGA Plus.

For the very first time, the manga will be released in English as a standalone edition. Previously, a joint Japanese-English edition was made available for the "eOneBook" device in September 2020.

Shueisha describes the manga:

Captain Tsubasa is a popular manga series written by Takahashi that was published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1988. It inspired four anime series, four films, several OVAs, and even a stage play. Today, it is available in approximately 20 countries worldwide.

The manga titled "Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun" centers on Tsubasa as he strives to represent Japan in the Olympics. This series was launched by Takahashi in December 2013 in Shueisha's "Grand Jump" magazine. In April 2020, it was moved to "Captain Tsubasa Magazine," which is a spinoff of "Grand Jump" that focuses on this franchise.

In April 2023, Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun The Final, the last chapter of the entire Captain Tsubasa series, was introduced in Captain Tsubasa Magazine. At the same time, the manga concluded in April 2024 with an announcement that Takahashi would no longer be writing manga series. However, a new manga series called Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun Finals is currently being released on the franchise's website in storyboard form. ( link ) .
